How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Deciding to go to therapy can be an uncomfortable and intimidating process. Scheduling an appointment can be a courageous first step. If you’re ready to explore the possibilities of finding peace and well-being, therapy is right for you.
The first session is an assessment of “good fit” between the client and the therapist. Ideally, you will feel a high degree of comfort, safety, and trust with your therapist. Once the therapeutic relationship has been established it can be periodically reviewed to ensure it is meeting your therapeutic needs.
What to expect on your first visit.
After setting up an appointment and filling out the required forms, your initial visit may include:
- Getting to know you and your therapeutic goals.
- Answering questions you might have about therapy, confidentiality, and your therapist’s approach to your issues.
- Assessing whether or not your therapist is a good fit for your unique therapeutic needs.
- A discussion about the frequency and timing of appointments.
Please fill out the first-time forms once you have scheduled an appointment.
